Black bears do frequent our area, although they are more interested in trash than people. The best thing the Alpine Lake community can do to prevent bear encounters is to keep trash secure and contained, so as not to attract them. When taking your trash to the enclosure at the end of the driveway at Wintervue, be sure the lids are secure and that the door to the enclosure is locked. Do not leave trash anywhere else outside.
